Document imaging has matured significantly over the last 10 years. Many organisations have already purchased a document management system, or have a bespoke departmental package with a document archiving facility.

However, the system may not be utilised fully because:

• there is a backlog of paperwork that needs scanning
• the department used to have a scanner but it doesn't work (or nobody likes using it!)
• Scanning companies want to sell another software package to replace the existing solution

MTL Document Services is committed to scanning documents and drawings. We do not try to sell EDM software where it is not required, and using this philosophy, we have worked with Clients to import documents into their document management package.

Our technical development team has written scripts to convert scanned images and metadata into the correct format, allowing batch imports into the EDM package. Additional modules can be written and would form part of our consultancy services at the outset of a project.
