Kodak 2400DSV /3000DSV

Kodak's scanners are excellent for scanning and printing from all types of microfilm. The 2400DSV allows on-screen retrieval from microfilm, microfiche or aperture card. The user can send the scanned image direct to a laser printer, or capture the image via a linked PC. Thus, a PC link is only required if the user wishes to store or distribute the scanned images.
The 2400DSV has a host of optional features including automatic image rotation and electronic zooming. Machines are supplied with a variety of lenses, rollfilm carriages and controllers available. The laser printer allows prints to both A4 and A3 paper size. The latter is particularly useful for 35mm microfilms, which benefit from the larger paper size for printing.
However, as the screen size on the machine is only A4, the end-user may find the detail of a 35mm frame is too small. In this scenario we would recommend Kodak's 3000DSV, which has an A2 screen size.
Each 2400DSV is cutomised depending on the lenses and carriers required, and they are therefore priced individually.

Canon MS300
The MS300 is Canon's alternative to Kodak's 2400DSV. The key difference of the MS300 is its compact size in comparison to the Kodak model. Furthermore, it is primarily designed to be linked to a PC during operation, using a network printer to deliver paper copies. Thus, the end user need not purchase an additional printer.
The Canon MS300 is fully customisable to cater for microfiche and rollfilms.

MTL have installed both the Canon and Kodak machines for organisations including high-street banks, local authorities consulting engineers. They are excellent for daily microfilm scanning, and the
appropriate machine will depend on the environment for which it is required.
We advise that neither machine is suitable for high-volume digitisation of a microfilm archive. Please contact us if you wish to digitise a full library.
Microfilm Viewers
Although they are not scanners, we also supply new microfilm viewers. Demand for these has dropped in recent years as end users have moved away from film to imaging.
The REAL range of viewers start from £285 inc. VAT and are suitable for 16mm microfiche. There is a manual rollfilm attachment. If you require an alternative viewer
for motorised rollfilms or 35mm films, we can provide details of a suitable machine on request.
